Clovis point replica made of Antonito basalt, New Mexico. This piece is classic in form and technology. Both faces exhibit typical flute scars made by indirect percussion. This piece is 68.5 mm long, 31 mm wide, 7 mm thick and weighs 17.3 grams. While many Clovis points are made from high quality, 'exotic' material, some were made from locally available stones such as basalt. For an excellent discussion of Clovis points check out this article by one of my student-colleagues, Allen Denoyer (https://www.archaeologysouthwest.org/2021/02/08/whats-the-point-all-about-clovis-points/
